Oman hockey team to undergo training camp from January 10

Muscat: With Oman Hockey Association (OHA) announcing India’s K.K. Poonacha as the head coach and former Omani star Khalid Khalfan Al Riyami as his assistant, the Sultanate’s national team will start training soon ahead of their participation in the FIH Hockey World League Round 2.
The team will undergo a training camp from January 10 to 26.
The OHA officials are scheduled to officially unveil both coach Poonacha and assistant coach Khalid Khalfan during a ceremony on Sunday, during which the Sultanate’s hockey governing body will also reveal the future training programme of the national team.
The FIH Hockey World League Round 2 will take place in Bangladesh from March 4 to 12.
Besides Oman and hosts Bangladesh who will be taking part in Round 2 are Egypt, Canada, Sri Lanka, Ghana, Fiji and China.
The top two from Round 2 will qualify for the third stage of the Hockey World League.
