Muscat: The MSM index closed at 3,561.20 points, down 0.13 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended down 0.59 per cent at 536.11 points. Sharqiyah Desalination, up 7.14 per cent, was the top gainer while Al Sharqiya Investments, down 8.11 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Phoenix Power were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded while Omantel shares were the most active in terms of turnover.
A total number of 610 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR2.59 million, with more than 17.62 million shares changing hands. Out of 43 traded stocks, 5 advanced, 14 declined and 24 remained unchanged. At the session close, foreign investors were net sellers for OMR192,000 while domestic investors were net buyers for OMR152,000 followed by GCC & Arab investors for OMR40,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed at 5,323.72 points, down by 0.22 per cent. Bank Nizwa and Oman United Insurance were up by 1.02 per cent and 0.51 per cent respectively. Al Sharqiya Investments, Muscat Finance, Al Madina Takaful, Al Anwar Investment, and Bank Dhofar were down by 8.11 per cent, 2.78 per cent, 2.30 per cent, 1.52 per cent, and 0.97 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index closed at 4,612.91 points, down 0.19 per cent. Al Anwar Ceramic Tiles closed higher by 0.64 per cent. National Aluminium Products, Galfar Engineering, Al Maha Ceramics, and Jazeera Steel Products were down by 3.75 per cent, 2.08 per cent, 1.54 per cent and 0.94 per cent respectively.
Services index was down by 0.73 per cent before closing at 1,545.27 points. Sharqiya Desalination and Omantel were up by 7.14 per cent and 0.52 per cent respectively. Phoenix Power, Al Jazeera Services, OIFC, Renaissance Services, and Ooredoo were down by 4.26 per cent, 2.50 per cent, 1.23 per cent, 1.16 per cent, and 0.50 per cent % respectively.
