OMR3.7m deal signed for work licencing system and permits

Muscat: A OMR3.755 million project has been signed between the Ministry of Manpower, Information Technology Authority (ITA) and Nortal, to develop a system for work licencing and permits. The project will help in simplifying and streamlining procedures to create transparency with customers when delivering services provided by the ministry. Dr. Salim bin Sultan Al Ruzaiqi, CEO of ITA, believes the project is an important step in the transformation of the government, in providing e-government (electronic) services. “This project is important, as it will serve a wide cross-section of citizens, and is a quantum leap in transforming actions and transactions from the traditional method, to the electronic standard of quality and reliability,” Dr Al Ruzaiqi said. The project will also raise the level of staff work at the ministry, in order to deal with electronic services for the project. According to Dr. Al Ruzaiqi, this will also reduce the amount of proceedings and official documents related to obtaining the required work permits. The Information Technology Authority will ensure the success of this project through follow-up and supervision of the implementation, as well as providing the required counselling. The Commission will work to harness all technical capabilities, including central initiatives and infrastructure projects adopted by the success of this project,” Dr Al-Ruzaiqi added. The aim is to develop an integrated framework, in accordance with the highest standards and principles using the best information and tools necessary to organise the workforce in Oman. The project will run for two years and include a three-year follow up for technical and maintenance work.
