Oman crime: Police arrest drifters for performing stunts

Muscat: A number of drifters were arrested for performing stunts with their cars on a public road in Rustaq, North Al Batinah governorate, Royal Oman Police (ROP) officials said.
The drivers were drifting and performing stunts on Friday night when police arrested them.
ROP said some of the cars were modified, and have since been confiscated by authorities.
“The drivers are being investigated after increasing the danger to other motorists and pedestrians,” ROP said.
Police also called upon citizens to report such cases to authorities.
According to the state’s traffic law, drifting is a crime.
Last year, police confiscated 20 cars which were modified to be used for drifting and show purposes in South Al Batinah governorate, following complaints from residents.
