Oman municipal council elections: Thousands flock to cast votes

Muscat: Thousands of Omanis flocked to 107 polling stations across the country to cast their votes for the Municipal Councils Elections 2016.
Starting from 7am, schools in villages and cities across Oman started receiving voters and more are expected to turn up throughout the day.
The number of registered voters this year stood at 623,224, recording a whopping increase of around 100,000 from last elections.
Around 731 candidates will contest for 202 seats all across Oman, of whom 708 are male and only 22 female.
The final results will be revealed tonight live via the election website and the mobile app.
