Advisor to HM, information minister, attorney general meet journalists

Muscat: Abdulaziz bin Mohammed Al Rowas, Advisor to His Majesty the Sultan for Cultural Affairs, Hussain bin Ali Al Hilali, Attorney-General and Dr. Abdul Mon’em bin Mansour Al Hassani, Minister of Information received the delegations of International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) and the Federation of Arab Journalists (FAJ).
One of the delegations was led by Mo’ayyad Al Lami while the other was led by Jem Abu Melha.
During the meeting with Abdulaziz bin Mohammed Al Rowas, roles of GFAJ and IFJ were reviewed within the framework of balanced journalism and media work and its supreme goals in raising awareness and knowledge sharing. Members of the two delegations praised the Sultanate’s progress in this regard, thanks to the wise vision and the attention accorded by His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said to the Omani journalism.
The meeting also reviewed challenges facing the local journalists’ associations and the importance of communication between the journalists’ federations and associations to benefit from the successful experiences and activating cooperation.
The Attorney-General gave an overview of the Public Prosecution, the developments it has witnessed and its working method, in coordination with other litigation authorities.
He then highlighted the role of media in the sustainable development process being witnessed by the Sultanate during the prosperous era of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said, Chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Information highlighted the role played by the two federations in serving the issues of media men and developing various aspects of media work.
The meeting reviewed means of enhancing cooperation between the Sultanate and the two visiting delegations. The two sides stressed the importance of maintaining coordination between them to serve the media work.
The FAJ Chairman hailed the development made by the Sultanate in all fields especially in media. He hoped that his visit would contribute to enhancing cooperation between the two sides in journalism fields.
The meeting was attended by Awadh bin Said Ba Quwair, Chairman of the Omani Journalists Association (OJA) and members of the OJA Board of Directors. The Sultanate will take part in the 11th session of the Islamic Conference of Information Ministers, to be convened by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on Wednesday under the theme “Renewed Media in the Face of Terrorism and Islamophobia.
The Sultanate’s delegation will be led by Dr. Abdul Mon’em bin Mansour Al Hassani, Minister of Information.
The conference will address a range of topics, including the role of media in the OIC Member States to support the issue of Jerusalem and Al Aqsa Mosque and supporting joint Islamic action in the field of media institutions.
