Oman FA still in negotiations with Pim Verbeek

Muscat: After a round of lengthy negotiations on Sunday between Oman Football Association (OFA) and Dutch coach Pim Verbeek, and with the latter said to be still in the capital city, speculation is rife that the Sultanate’s football governing body has found the right man to take over the reins of the national team.
Though the OFA has not made any official statement, a source informed Times Sport that the meeting between the OFA top officials and Pim Vebreek did take place at the association headquarters on Sunday while also confirming that the Dutchman is still in Muscat.
Another source on condition of anonymity revealed that most probably the final decision will be made on Monday depending on the ‘terms and conditions’ agreed by both the parties with OFA likely to make an official announcement and unveil the new coach the following day.
Pim Verbeek, the former coach of Australian and South Korean national teams, arrived in Oman on Saturday to hold negotiations with the OFA officials.
Last week, Pim Verbeek emerged as the frontrunner to fill the post vacated by Spaniard Juan Ramon Lopez Caro after OFA revealed that two shortlisted names, including Bosnian Safet Susic, are being considered for coach’s job.
