These two types of honey products banned in Oman

Muscat: Two types of honey products have been banned in Oman, the Public Authority for Consumer Protection (PACP) announced on Thursday.

According to officials, the two products were banned for non-compliance with standard specifications.

In a statement PACP said, “Dr. Saeed Bin Khamis Al Kaabi, Chairman of the PACP Public issued decision No. 86/2019 to suspend the circulation of the product (Royal Golden Wales Honey), country of origin - Jordan and the product and Al shifa product of Saudi Arabia with total weight of 450 grams in general, which was produced in 2/1/2016 and will expire on 2/1/2021 and the product packaged on 1/9/2018 that will expire on 31/8/2023, with a total weight of 3 kg because of non-compliance with the standard specifications of honey.”

The decision calls for the withdrawal of the product and its subsequent destruction, from all markets of the Sultanate for the sake of public health, PACP added.

PACP warns that anyone who contravenes the provisions of this decision shall be liable to the administrative fine provided for in Article 51 of the executive regulations of the Consumer Protection Law.

The decision is based on the Royal Decree No. 26/2011 establishing the Public Authority for Consumer Protection, the Royal Decree No. 53/2011, the Consumer Protection Law promulgated by Royal Decree No. 66/2014, the Executive Regulations of the Law issued by Decision No. 77/2017.
