Port of Salalah receives 20 tractor trailers

Muscat: Port of Salalah, Oman’s major regional gateway port and transshipment hub on the Arabian Sea, recently received 20 tractor trailers ordered from Terberg, a specialist vehicle supplier.
At the ceremony, the keys for the tractor trailers were handed over to the drivers who have shown a consistent performance in productivity and safety.
“This ongoing asset augmentation program will provide us with the resources required for a more efficient service. With several other initiatives already underway, we expect to see an upward trajectory in overall efficiency. We are working with various stakeholders to ensure continued investment in Salalah as one of the important ports in the region,” said David Gledhill, chief executive officer of the Port of Salalah.
Joseph Schofield, the chief operating officer of the Container Terminal handed over the keys of the new machines to the employees.
Port of Salalah is operated by APM Terminals as part of the APM Terminals Global Terminal Network. Its container volume grew by 29 per cent in the first half as compared to the corresponding period in the previous year.
The Port of Salalah has recently undergone an expansion, which doubled the quay length, and increase dry bulk capacity to 20 million tonnes, and liquid bulk capacity to six million tonnes annually.
