Part of Abu Dhabi's Presidential Palace to become cultural landmark

Muscat: A section of Abu Dhabi's Presidential Palace is set to be opened to the public starting 11 March 2019, authorities in the UAE have confirmed.

The building that will be opened has been dubbed 'Qasr Al Watan' and will include a library and the House of Knowledge in its east wing, where visitors can explore Arab contributions to literature, science, and the humanities through a collection of artifacts and manuscripts.

The palace is the official meeting place of the UAE's Cabinet and Federal Supreme Council as well as where state guests to Abu Dhabi are officially welcomed.

Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, said in a tweet, "In line with the UAE President's vision, I have given directives to allocate a building in the Presidential Palace compound, called Qasr Al Watan, 'Palace of the Nation'.

"Visitor tours of the palace will serve as a knowledge base and boost cultural understanding of the UAE."

In the evening, a light and sound show will be projected on the facade of the iconic building. Interactive cultural exhibitions will also be organised onsite.
