Muscat: British singer Keith Flint has been found dead at his family home, aged 49.
Police and ambulance services are currently at the scene, and are examining the evidence to discover the reason for his death.
Best known as a vocalist as well as a dancer for British band The Prodigy, Keith’s vocals were used in both of the band’s best-selling hits, Firestarter and Breathe. The songs were released in 1996.
Borne in Redbridge, London, Flint lived in the town of Dunmow, Essex, and began his music career in the late 1980s. Known for his explosive energy and his wild haircut, Flint was originally only a dancer for Prodigy, but featured as a vocalist for Firestarter. Given the success the band enjoyed with the smash single, the trend continued for their next successful hit, Breathe.
The 1997 album The Fat of the Land, saw Flint contributing to many songs, including Serial Thrilla and Fuel my Fire. Another album by The Prodigy, titled Invaders must Die, saw Flint featured on several tracks, including Take me to the Hospital, Omen, World’s on Fire, Run with the Wolves and Colours.
Fans of the singer have been quick to mourn his passing.
“So sad about Keith Flint,” said John Niven. “Lovely guy,” and Tetsuo Shima added, “Can’t believe this absolute rave hero is gone, RIP Keith flint, your music will be played over massive sound systems for the rest of time.”
“Live fast, die young. RIP Keith Flint, you twisted instigator,” added Michael Rossel, and Howard M said, “A big influence on the music of the 80's and 90's. RIP Keith Flint.”
