Farm quarantined after two people infected with disease

Muscat: A farm has been placed under veterinary quarantine after two people were diagnosed with Crimean hemorrhagic fever, Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries revealed in a statement.

According to authorities, the individuals were infected because of suspected infected animals purchased from a farm in Wilayat Samail.

The Ministry said in a statement that: "Immediately after receiving a report from the Ministry of Health of the infection of two people with Crimean hemorrhagic fever in Wilayat Samail, a team of veterinarians from the ministry (of Agriculture and Fisheries) visited the farm where the animals were purchased. Samples were taken and the animals were sprayed with veterinary products."

"The farm has been placed under veterinary quarantine until the danger is eliminated," the Ministry added.
