Muscat bourse continues its losing streak

Muscat: The MSM30 continued its losing streak to close at 5,809.33 points, down 0.24 per cent. The MSM Sharia Index declined 0.18 per cent to end at 893.68 points. Al Sharqia Investment was the most active stock in terms of volume while Ominvest led turnover-wise. The top gainer was Ahli Bank, up 2.70 per cent, while Al Batinah Development was the days’ top loser, down 4.30 per cent.
A total number of 434 trades were executed on Sunday, generating turnover of OMR2.46 million with 11.7 million shares changing hands. Out of 41 traded securities, 7 advanced, 15 declined and 19 remained unchanged. At the session close, Omani investors were net buyers for OMR129,000 while GCC & Arab Investors were net sellers for OMR128,000 followed by Foreign investors for OMR1,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed at 7,431.20 points, a loss of 0.14 per cent. Ahli Bank and Gulf Investment Services gained 2.70 per cent and 2.52 per cent respectively. Al Batinah Development, Oman & Emirates Holding, Bank Sohar, HSBC Bank and Al Sharqia Investments declined 4.30 per cent, 2.10 per cent, 1.76 per cent, 0.99 per cent and 0.76 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index retreated 0.26 per cent to close at 7,572.06 points. Oman Fisheries, Oman Flour Mills and Al Maha Ceramics gained 1.64 per cent, 0.64 per cent and 0.42 per cent respectively. Al Anwar Ceramics, Al Hassan Engineering, Raysut Cement, Galfar Engineering and Al Jazeera Steel decreased 1.83 per cent, 1.33 per cent, 0.98 per cent, 0.93 per cent and 0.41 per cent respectively.
Services Index declined 0.22 per cent to close at 3,153.17 points. Al Jazeera Services and Sembcorp Salalah gained 0.52 per cent and 0.42 per cent respectively. Renaissance Services and Phoenix Power slid 2.72 per cent and 0.68 per cent respectively.
