Oman bag three medals at GCC swimming championships in Dammam

Muscat: Oman swimmers bagged three medals, including one gold and two silver, at the 26th GCC Short Swimming Championships in Saudi Arabian city of Damman on Wednesday. According to information received here, talented Omani swimmers Isa Al Adawi and Mohammed Al Khadouri finished one-two in the 800m freestyle race. Isa Al Adawi clocked eight minutes and 52.80 seconds to better his previous mark and take the gold, while Al Khadouri timed 9:05.94 to clinch the silver medal. Oman's second silver medal came in the 200m medley where Abdulrahman Al Kulaibi completed the race in 2:14.93. Taha bin Sulaiman Al Kishry, chairman of Oman Swimming Association, expressed delight over the Omani swimmers achievement. The Omani official also hailed the organising committee for excellent arrangements at the championships. Meanwhile, Oman coach Kamal Khamri said: "Congratulations to the boys for winning the three medals. We are all working hard to overcome all the challenges in the championships and I am expecting more such achievements from our boys." A total of 13 Omani swimmers are taking part in the championships, which run till Saturday.
