Tennis: Shlok steals the show at ISC Open final

MUSCAT: Shlok Ail exhibited all the attributes of a true champion as he stole the show at the grand final of the ISC-Muscat Pharmacy Open Junior Tennis Tournament organised by the Indian Social Club Oman.
Ambassador of India to Oman, Munu Mahawar presided over the finals and watched as Shlok Ail displayed sound temperament and fighting qualities to win the Boys Under-18 singles crown. In the final, the top seed defeated second seed Vivek Kolluru with a hard-fought 6-3, 6-4 victory.
Tennis enthusiasts were treated to tennis of a high order as Shlok and Vivek gave out their best with Vivek dictating terms in both sets before Shlok staged brilliant rearguard action to turn the tables on his opponent.
Vivek held a 3-1 lead in the first set and was cruising at 4-1 in the second when Shlok saved a break point and after two deuces held to win the sixth ggame and broke Vivek in the seventh and ninth games to take the crucial 5-4 lead.
Shlok put in brilliant serves to win the second set and claim a brilliant victory and the Boys Under-18 singles title.
Others present at the finals included B.S. Mehta of Muscat Pharmacy and Stores LLC, the main sponsor, ISC Chairman Dr. Satish Nambiar, Percy Pereira, General Manager of Supa Sportsman, Salman Al-Balushi, Executive Manager of Oman Tennis Association, office bearers of the ISC and a large gathering of tennis enthusiasts. The tournament was co-sponsored by Ferrotec Engineering, Supa Sportsman LLC and Khimji Ramdas Watches. Dinner vouchers were sponsored by Al Nahda Hotels and Resorts and Begums Restaurant.
