Qatar Airways introduces more flights to Doha from Oman

Muscat: Growing trade and tourism links between the Sultanate of Oman and the State of Qatar have forced Doha-based Qatar Airways to introduce more flights between Muscat and Doha.
Joe Rajadurai, Qatar Airways’ country manager for Oman, said the airline will now fly five times a day between Muscat and Doha from August 1, 2016. “The early morning flight will leave Muscat at 6.45am will reach Doha at 7.25am. This will also help people, who generally opt for business travel to Qatar and return to Muscat in the evening,” he explained.
Besides this, the morning Qatar Airways flight will connect several cities of Africa, Europe and the Far East with Doha. “The additional flight will provide seamless transfers to the Far East, Europe and Africa, offering you more choices to plan your holiday,” Rajadurai noted.
He also said they have already introduced the Dreamliner service in Oman, with two flights a day from the Muscat International Airport. “While one Dreamliner aircraft arrives at the Muscat International Airport in the morning, the other arrives in the evening from the Hamad International Airport, Doha,” he said.
Additional flights
Rajadurai also revealed that Qatar Airways has added an additional 10 flights per week from Doha to Salalah, Oman, to meet demand during the popular Khareef (monsoon) season, which runs from June 1 to September 30. “During this period we are flying three times a day and from October we will be flying twice daily to Salalah,” he said.
Salalah is the ideal getaway in the summer months. Its unique climate, especially during the cooler Khareef season, provides a welcome respite from the soaring heat the rest of the region experiences between June and September. “The increasing popularity of Salalah has prompted us to meet our customers’ demands by increasing our flight frequency throughout the busy period, providing them with more options so that their travel experience is as smooth and convenient as possible,” he said.
Rajadurai also said Qatar Airways proudly accepted three separate accolades at the 2016 Skytrax World Airline Awards held at the Farnborough International Airshow in the United Kingdom.
Air travellers chose Qatar Airways as the World’s Best Business Class during the 2016 World Airline Awards, also voting the airline as the top most for Best Business Class Airline Lounge and the Best Airline Staff Service in the Middle East. “The consumer-voted awards recognised the airline for its commitment to offering passengers an unrivalled travelling experience,” he added.
The Skytrax World Airline Awards are widely known as the Passengers Choice Awards, with millions of travellers from 160 different countries, participating in passenger satisfaction surveys to decide the winners each year.
Over the last year, Qatar Airways announced an unprecedented expansion of its network with 13 new destinations launched in 2016, including Adelaide, Atlanta, Birmingham, Boston, Chiang Mai, Seychelles and Sydney.
The airline continued to grow in 2017, and will commence services to further new destinations, including Auckland, which will be the world’s longest flight, Lusaka, Skopje and Nice.
