Watchdog solves 80% of complaints

Muscat: The Public Authority for Consumer Protection has announced that it has solved 80% of complaints in 2018, and that the sum total for that year had reached almost 14 thousand cases.

According to Ahmed Said al Oraimi, Deputy Director of Economic Statistics at the Authority, said, "The total of complaints in 2018 reached 13,961 cases in comparison with 11,574 complaints in 2017, which shows that there is an increase of trust and awareness among consumers.

"80% of cases were solved successfully in 2018, which is something to be proud of," he added.

According to the Director, most cases were in Al Seeb, and cases increased by 34% in comparison to last year. He said, "The reason Al Seeb is so high is population density in comparison to other areas, as well as the number of stores in Al Seeb."
