Ahmed bin Nasser Al Mehrazi, Minister of Tourism said that the value added to the tourism sector amounted to OMR912 million by the end of 2018.
An annual growth rate of 25 per cent from OMR728 million in 2017.
He added that the tourism sector in the Sultanate contributed 2.9 per cent to the gross domestic product by the end of 2018, compared to 2.6 per cent in 2017.
302 million persons visited the Sultanate in 2018, well on the way to becoming a major platform for cruise ships tours, especially with the completion of the development of Port Sultan Qaboos.
