10 arrested for smuggling in Oman

Muscat: Ten expats have been arrested for smuggling diesel and narcotic substances along the coasts of Musandam and Salalah

Royal Oman Police said in a statement online: "Dhofar Coast Guard patrols managed to arrested three people in the fishing boat near the port of Salalah in an attempt to smuggle a quantity of khat to the state of Salalah, where they seized more than 2200 packets of khat. The persons and good seized were handed over to the Department of Combat Drugs and psychotropic substances."

In Musandam Governorate, the Coast Guard arrested four people of Asian nationality aboard two boats use to smuggle diesel near the entrance to the port of Khasab, where they were seized with a large amount of diesel.

In a third case, ROP officials revealed that "the Coast Guard patrol of Kumzar arrested a boat carrying three people of Asian nationality near the island of Salama in the Wilayat of Khasab entered the country illegally, where we realised that they were illegally selling petroleum products."
