Muscat: Authorities in Saudi Arabia have denied rumours that the kingdom's Crown Prince was aiming to takeover Premier League club Manchester United.
Saudi Arabia's Minister of Media Turki Al-Shabanah said on Twitter, "Reports claiming that His Royal Highness the Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman intends to buy Manchester United are completely false.
"Manchester United held a meeting with the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia to discuss sponsorship opportunity. No deal has materialised," Al-Shabanah clarified.
The record 20-time English champions are currently owned by the Glazer family, who also own the NFL's Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
