Rudrakrishna to clash with Ali in U-14 singles final

Muscat: Talented Omani player Ali Al Busaidi and R. Rudrakrishna advanced to the final of the boys under-14 singles event at the ISC-Muscat Pharmacy Open Junior Tennis Tournament organised by the Indian Social Club Oman.
Ali and Rudrakrishna entered the final with contrasting victories in their respective semi-final encounters. Ali Al Busaidi continued his fine form and followed up his fine victory over the second seed in the quarter-final with a brilliant 6-2, 6-4 win to beat third seed Praneeth Raj.
After a lacklustre showing in the first set, Praneeth played with more intent in the second set and broke Ali for a 3-2 lead.
Ali held his ground and after being deadlocked at 4-all, Ali gained the crucial break and served out the match for a place in the final against R. Rudrakrishna who sailed for the summit clash after posting a convincing 6-3, 6-1 win over Shantanu Sriram.
Ayvret van Waveren lined up a quarter-final clash against second seed Vivek Kolluru in the boys under-18 singles after coasting to a comfortable 8-0 victory over Vinuka K.
