Royal Oman Police arrests 32 expat workers

Muscat: A total of 32 expat workers have been arrested in Nothern Batinah for violating the labour and residence law, the Royal Oman Police (ROP) announced on Monday.

According to the police, all the arrested expats were of "Asian nationality”. However, no information on their country if origin was made available.

In a statement online, ROP said, “The Nothern Batinah police command arrested 32 expats of Asian nationalities, for violating labour and residence law."

Officials added that legal proceedings have been carried out against the suspects.

Earlier today, the Royal Oman Police also announced that more than 230 expats were arrested in Muttrah for violating the labour and residence law.

The arrests were made as part of a joint campaign between various police units in Al Hamriya.

In a statement online, ROP said: “The Muscat Governorate Police Command, supported by the Special Police Task Force in Seeb and some supporting formations carried out a campaign to arrest the infiltrators and violators of the labour and residence law in Al Hamriya area in the Wilayat of Muttrah.”
