Oman participates in an international joint naval drill

Muscat: The Royal Navy of Oman is participating for the first time in the international joint naval drill, titled “Aman-19”, which is being conducted in the Islamic Republic. A number of Omani Royal Navy vessels participated in the exercise, which is being carried out in Pakistan’s territorial waters from February 8 to 12, 2019.

Furthermore, an International Music Review and Demonstration of Maritime Counter-Terrorism Operations also took place at the Naval Base of the Pakistani Naval Forces in Karachi under the patronage of Imran Ismail, Governor of Sindh Region.
The demonstration of marine counter-terrorism operations included a display of intercept boats, commandos, a raid, and the recovery of kidnapped hostages in accordance with the exercise plans.
On Monday, February 11, 2019, the Royal Navy of Oman also launched a naval exercise in the Sea of Oman, which will continue until October 14.
The exercise was launched with the support of the Royal Air Force of Oman, and the participation of a group of vessels belonging to the Navy of a number of countries.
The implementation of this exercise comes within the framework of the annual training plans of the Royal Navy of Oman and within the plans of exchanging experiences with friendly countries in order to maintain the readiness levels of the Omani Navy fleet.
On the other hand, the Sultanate’s military also participated in a joint military exercise between the Sultanate and the United Arab Emirates called “Tawaon 2”.
This is the second version of such an exercise, which comes within the context of the military cooperation between the two brotherly countries. The first exercise titled “Tawaon 1” took place in the Sultanate in the year 1997. “Tawaon 2” began on February 3 in the United Arab Emirates and will continue until February 14.
