Muscat: The eagerly-awaited eight-a-side football tournament organised by the Indian Social Club – Goan Wing for the Indian community is set to kick-off at the Al Amal Club ground, Azaiba at 8 a.m on November 8.
The response for this annual event is overwhelming with sixteen teams vying for the champions trophy.
The draw for the fixtures was held on 18th October, 2019 at Majan Continental Hotel. Teams are drawn into four groups. The draw was conducted by Sports Secretary Savio Martyres along with the committee members.
Group A: Al Fayha, Amigos, Musef Youngsters, Muscat United
Group B: United Kerala, Curtorim Club, Goa United, Muscat Hammers
Group C: STS, Realex, FC Mabela
Group D: Kannur Brothers, Black & White Kerala ,Aig Anjuna, Dejavu
The top two teams from each group will qualify for the quarterfinals.
Convenor Savio Carvalho said: “This is a family oriented recreational football festival”. Apart from the main 8-A-Side tournament there will be the ladies’ tiebreaker, ladies tug of war, games for children, spot prizes and lots of music and fun.
The co-convenor Herman Estibeiro wished the participating teams all the very best.
