Al Balushi, 24, has four sisters and two brothers. “My mother and father are interested in seeing their children reach the heights of success,” she said.
According to her, the sector is one of the most interesting fields. “I became more attracted to this field after joining Oman Tourism College (OTC),” she asserted.
“The way the teachers explain the subjects related to this field, made me more excited to explore the field and that is what inspired me to attend classes continuously just to acquire more knowledge,” she added.
Wonderful feeling
Speaking about her top rank at OTC, Al Balushi said, “It is a wonderful feeling which I’ve never felt before.”
“It was hard to achieve it, due to the many challenges and pressures we faced during the study. But with constant determination, diligence and encouragement I had from my family, especially from my mother, friends and my teachers, I did it and I achieved my dream to become the topper at OTC,” she added.
She now plans to complete her masters in Tourism.
“My journey at OTC was a mix of challenges, fun, stress, pressures, and meeting different teachers with different nationalities and that’s what made me successful person,” Al Balushi said.
“Studying at OTC helped me to gain interesting knowledge, to think differently, manage my time and become more pro-active.”
According to her, she got a chance to attend seminars and workshops that were held by many tourism organisations, such as the World Tourism Organisation, the Omran Company, Oman Air Company and Ministry of Tourism.
“My college selected me to go to Italy to join ExpoMilano, it was the best trip I ever had,” Al Balushi said. She also expressed her gratitude to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said for providing great education opportunities in Oman.
Al Balushi is also interested in reading stories and poetry and is also fond of travelling and discovering new cultures.
Her advice to students, who want to pursue a career in the Tourism and Hospitality sector, is to work hard and to give their best and enjoy their studies because this is a completely different and enjoyable field.
