2,184 SMEs registered in May 2019

Muscat: The total number of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) registered with the Public Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises Development (Riyada) at the end of May 2019 was 2,184, which is a drop by 22 per cent compared to the same period of 2018, according to the data released by the National Centre for Statistics and information (NCSI).
Among the governorates, Muscat topped the list with 36 per cent SMEs registered in May 2019, followed by Al-Batinah North with 19 per cent, A'Dakhliyah with 10 per cent, Dhofar with 7 per cent and the rest of governorates at 28 per cent.
The Governorate of Muscat had 794 SMEs registered at the end of May 2019, followed by Al Batinah North with 411, A'Dakhliyah with 224, Al Batinah South with 168, Dhofar with 162, and A'Sharqiah North with 133 SMEs registered.
This was followed by A'Dhahirah with 102 SMEs, A'Sharqiah South with 94 SMEs, and Al Buraimi with 51 SMEs registered.
Al Wusta had 33 SMEs registered and Musandam had 12 SMEs registered, which was the lowest among governorates registered in end of May 2019.
The total number of SMEs registered in the end of May 2019 was 39,473, while the number of SMEs in the end of December 2018 was 37,289.
