Oman Cricket: Khawar to join Oman team in Mohali

Muscat: Khawar Ali, who played a good role in the Oman's qualification process, has been drafted back into the national team for the ICC World Twenty20 Championship beginning in India on March 8.
Khawar was dropped by the Oman Cricket selection committee when the 15-member team bound for Asia Cup in Bangladesh and World T20 was announced.
However, he was kept as stand-by, and Oman's think-tank thought of including him after realising that Khawar will be an all-round asset.
A good batsman, Khawar has played seven T20 Internationals since qualifying with a healthy strike rate of 87.94 and his recent brilliant performances in domestic league for Enhance, boosted his chances and the recall came after the Asia Cup campaign.
Khawar, who can also bowl leg breaks, will replace young Aaqib Illyas, and will be joining the team at Mohali on Thursday.
Oman play two warm-up games in Mohali on March 4 and 6 against Scotland and Afghanistan respectively before beginning their World T20 campaign in Dharamsala from March 9.
