Reorganisation of training institutes for government sector in Oman discussed

Muscat: Rules governing private training institutes catering to government institutions were discussed by Dr Muna bint Salim Al Jardania, Undersecretary for Training at the Ministry of Manpower and Sayyid Salim bin Musallam Al Busaidi, Undersecretary for Administrative Development at the Ministry of Civil Service.
They spoke about challenges faced by the institutes and possible solutions, a press release said. Discussions also included ways to reorganise the training sector according to existing rules and procedures and instructing all government agencies to abide by them.
Both sides stressed the importance of improving cooperation by establishing a task force that will help in reorganisation of the training sector, including services provided by private institutes to government institutes. In this way, the statement said, the quality of training programmes for the government sector will be enhanced.
An official of the Ministry of Manpower told the Times of Oman that, given the fact that “discussions are ongoing,” no further details can be given at the moment.
The Ministry of Civil Service recently held a three-day conference on competence building in the government sector, which was aimed at improving the quality of government services.
Earlier, Sayyid Salim told Times of Oman on the sidelines of that conference, that government services need to be qualitatively improved to serve the citizens better, as well as to attract more investments into the country.
