Muscat: 20 Asian expats were arrested on charges of smuggling diesel, the Royal Oman Police (ROP) announced.
The Musandam Coast Guard seized seven boats that were attempting to smuggle diesel fuel.
In an online statement the ROP said, "Musandam and Kumzar Coast Guard police boats seized seven diesel smuggling boats near Wilayat Khasab, carrying twenty people of Asian nationality, and the individuals were arrested on charges of diesel smuggling."
“Around 20,000 litres of diesel were recovered," the police added.
The arrested have been handed over to the Customs Department in Musandam to complete legal proceedings against them.
