Oman operates pilot voyage to Iran’s Chabahar Port

Muscat: A pilot voyage from Sultan Qaboos Port to Chabahar Port in the Islamic Republic of Iran on board the ferryboat “Hormuz” was operated by the National Ferries Company (NFC).
During the voyage, the NFC team comprising its chief executive officer, engineers and technicians studied the marine features of the route from Sultan Qaboos Port to Chabahar Port.
Operational plans
Mahdi bin Mohammed Al Abdawani, CEO of the NFC met with the Chairman of Chabahar Free Commerce and Industry Zone.
The two sides reviewed the future operational plans for the ferries, the administrative and technical requirements for operating Muscat – Chabahar route whose 150 nautical miles can be crossed in three and a half hours.
The two sides reviewed the requirements at Chabahar Port, the official documents needed by the Omani travellers to Chabahar.
The Iranian side made a visual presentation on the operational route of the port, the current and future commercial and tourism projects especially the port is the first one on the Sea of Oman towards the Arabian Gulf.
“The visit provided the company team with a clear picture about the facilities at the port and allowed us to review available services and facilities at the port, such as the arrival terminal, the domestic transport at the port, the parking lots and other facilities, which ensure convenience of travellers,” Al Abdawani further said.
He pointed out that the two sides will jointly draft the proposals to operate this marine route and fix its tariff.
The NFC has also operated pilot voyages to Bahman in Qeshm Island and Bahonar in Bandar Abbas.
