Muscat: Apple has asked customers in Oman to return a certain type of three-pronged charger plug because of a risk of electrocution.
Oman's Public Authority for Consumer Protection announced that Apple is running a Voluntary Replacement Programme.
The plug in question is a British-style three pronged white AC adapter with no lettering near where it attaches to a power adapter. The replacement programme is part of Apple's global recall initiative that has seen around 12.2 million plugs affected.
A statement from PACP said: "The affected three-prong AC wall plug adapters are white with no letters in the inside slot where it attaches to an Apple power adapter. New wall plug adapters which are unaffected by this issue are white with grey on the inside portion that attaches to the power adapter.
"Apple has determined that in very rare cases, affected wall plug adapters may break and create a risk of electric shock if metal parts are touched," said PACP, adding that the plugs in question were manufactured between 2003 and 2010.
The organisation asked people with affected plugs to "attend an authorised Apple service provider" for a replacement.
