Fak Kurba: Omani donor pays debts of 24 prisoners

Muscat: In a gesture of benevolence, an Omani man has come forward and paid the debts of 24 prisoners in the Al Dhahirah Governorate, paving the way for their release.

Dr. Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Zadjali, Chairman of the Oman Lawyers Association said that the 'man of goodwill' did not want his name to be made public and that he had made this donation for the third year in a row to ensure the release of all prisoners within the jurisdiction of the courts of Al-Dhahirah governorate, who are listed in the ‘Fak Kurba’ humanity initiative. "They were released on Monday," he said.

‘Fak Kurba’ is a voluntary association, a committee of lawyers, who work together to bring a difference to the lives of people.

Since its inception, the campaign has supported many in trouble and continues to do more. In its first phase in 2012, the campaign managed to secure the release of 44 prisoners, in 2014 it was 304, and in 2015 the figure stood at 432, in 2017 they managed to release 425 and 510 prisoners in 2018.
