National innovation strategy panel reviews project progress

Muscat: The Supreme Steering Committee of the National Innovation Strategy Project at The Research Council (TRC) held its first meeting of the year under the chair of His Highness Sayyid Shihab bin Tariq Al Said, Chairman of the Supreme Steering Committee of the National Innovation Strategy Project.
In a press statement, the Chairman of the Committee thanked those who participated in the preparation of the National Innovation Strategy and are still participating in the implementation of the initiatives.
He said: “We appreciate these sincere efforts and call on all parties to continue to implement the National Innovation Strategy in an integrated manner between all partners and actors within the national innovation system, in accordance with a common vision aimed at strengthening the Sultanate’s role in the world map of science and technology, as wanted by His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said.”
He expressed his thanks and appreciation to all stakeholders for their sincere efforts in preparing the National Innovation Strategy and worked to include it in the national plans in line with the Oman Vision 2040, in order that Oman becomes among best 20 countries by 2040.
He also thanked to the national team responsible for following up the implementation of the National Innovation Strategy because of its pivotal role in following up the implementation of the strategy on the ground.
The committee listened to a presentation on the challenges facing the progress in some indicators of the Sultanate in the Global Innovation Index and the role of related parties from different sectors.
The meeting also included the discussion of identifying the national observer for innovation to follow up the implementation of the National Innovation Strategy within Oman Vision 2040.
Dr. Sharifa bint Hamoud Al Harthiya, Director of the National Innovation Strategy, reviewed the draft report on the analysis of indicators of the Global Innovation Report, which was prepared by TRC with the national team to follow up the implementation of the National Innovation Strategy.
