FIFA tight-lipped on whether Oman will help host Qatar 2022 World Cup

Muscat: Global football's governing body has declined to comment on global speculation that Oman and Kuwait may help Qatar host the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Reports are rife that all three countries could unite to host the first World Cup played across the Gulf region. FIFA President Gianni Infantino has visited the Sultanate twice in recent weeks to meet with senior government officials.

But an official FIFA spokesman told Times of Oman : "We have no comment to make on this story."

Football fans in Oman are hoping they might be able to catch some live World Cup action, but spokesmen for the Ministry of Sport and the Oman Football Association declined to comment.
