Football: Qatar beat South Korea, qualify for Asia Cup semis

Muscat: Qatar beat South Korea 0-1 in Abu Dhabi to qualify for the semi-finals of the Asian Cup for the first time in history.
South Korea were the favourites to make it to the final after finishing second in 2015, but were thwarted by a determined Qatar.
A drab first half ended 0-0, with the Taeguk Warriors dominating possession but failing to score.
In the second half, things livened up, with both squads pushing to take the lead. But, it would be the Qataris who broke the deadlock, stunning thousands of Korean fans that packed Zayed Sports City.
Qatari midfielder Abdulaziz Hatim put his side in front in the 78th minute with a long-range strike.
The South Koreans would hit back almost immediately, putting the ball in the back of the net only to have the effort ruled as offside following the intervention of VAR.
Qatar would hold their nerve to book a place in the last four of the Asian Cup, the furthest they have made it in Asia’s biggest football tournament.
