Oman shivers as parts witness temperatures as low as one degree Celsius

Muscat: As temperatures continue to drop across Oman, parts of the country witnessed temperatures as low as one degree Celsius, the Oman’s National Multi Hazard Early Warning Centre has announced.
The Sultanate’s highest mountain range, Jebel Shams recorded a minimum temperature of one degree Celsius on Tuesday. The mountains — part of the Al Hajar Mountain range are situated at an altitude of 3,004 metres above sea level — recently recorded temperatures as low as (-8) degrees Celsius.
According to the Centre, most parts of Oman will witness mainly clear skies with chances of late night to early morning low level clouds or fog formations over parts of Arabian Sea coastal areas.
Speaking to Times of Oman, an official from the National Multi Hazard Early Warning Centre, said: “The temperature at Jebel Shams this morning [Tuesday] was one degrees Celsius, but there are high chances that temperatures could have dropped to zero degrees Celsius at night.”
Several other places also recorded single-digit temperatures, with Jebel Akhtar recording four degrees Celsius, Maqshin in Dhofar recording six degrees Celsius, Yanqul witnessed a temperature of seven degrees Celsius, Buraimi was eight degrees Celsius and Ibri recorded nine degrees Celsius on Tuesday. Muscat recorded a minimum temperature of 14.6 degrees Celsius on Tuesday morning.
