NBC event highlights SMEs funding

Muscat: The National Business Centre (NBC), an initiative of the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (Madayn), organised the Reyooq event, entitled ‘Financing of Small and Medium Enterprises’, at Basta Majan Café on Tuesday. The event’s speakers included representatives of Al Raffd Fund and Oman Development Bank, in addition to a successful Omani entrepreneur.
Amira Al Zadjali, acting Director General for Development and Planning at the Al Raffd Fund, stated that the Al Raffd Fund was launched to support the creation and development of small and medium enterprises and entrepreneurs by providing quality financing for varied business needs. Al Zadjali said that the fund takes into consideration the importance of setting up ventures to generate new employment opportunities for nationals.
Additionally, Said Al Fulaiti, Regional Director of Oman Development Bank for Muscat governorate, explained that Oman Development Bank recognises the significance of the contributions of SMEs’ to the Sultanate’s development in various fields.
He noted that the bank undertakes constant efforts to encourage SMEs to flourish in the market, as the bank covers funding for several sectors, including fisheries, agriculture and livestock, education, healthcare, industries, tourism, information technology, and logistics, among others.
Abdulaziz Al Kalbani, owner of AsrarAl’ared Trading Enterprise, spoke of his successful experience with his company, pointing out that it is one of the first Omani firms working on the production of coal extracted from wood waste.
Officials noted that the series of Reyooq events aim at highlighting varied topics of significance to Omani entrepreneurs. The National Business Centre is an initiative launched by the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates – Madaynat ,the Knowledge Oasis Muscat (KOM), to offer promising Omani entrepreneurs a platform to develop their business ideas and advance them into growing ventures.
The centre provides a premier platform for Omani entrepreneurs by offering business development support and guidance, training and mentoring, access to markets and industry experts, and state-of-the-art and fully equipped office space, meeting rooms and presentation facilities.
