Parts of Oman to witness strong winds, temperature set to drop in some areas

Muscat: The northern part of Oman will witness strong winds from today, Oman Meteorology has announced.

In a statement online the agency said, “Northwest active winds will be blowing in the Governorate of Musandam from Friday morning gradually extending towards the rest of the northern governorates from Saturday to Monday evening. [The winds will be] accompanied by a rise in the sea waves and a drop in temperature (3-6) degrees Celsius. Dust will rise in the open and desert areas.”

The weather forecast for today is clear to partly cloudy skies over Musandam with chances of isolated rains.

While Muscat and Sohar will record a high temperature of 26 degrees Celsius, Sur and Salalah will witness a high temperature of 27 degrees Celsius. On the other hand, temperatures are expected to drop to below 15 degrees Celsius in Haima, Nizwa, Buraimi, Rustaq, Ibri, Ibra and Saiq.
