A total of five expats have been arrested in South Batinah on charges of electronic fraud, the Royal Oman Police revealed.
Officials said the accused sent victims messages on their phones telling them that they won money from local banks and telecom providers.
The arrests were made following an operation by the General Department of Criminal Investigation in South Batinah governorate.
ROP also called on citizens and residents to protect themselves by ignoring any potentially malicious accounts, emails and phone calls they receive.
