Global charities use #10YearChallenge to highlight environmental issues

Muscat: A number of charities and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) have taken to social media to use the #10YearChallenge to highlight a number of important environmental challenges.
World Wildlife Fund (WWF) Pakistan posted an image depicting a now barren area that was once filled with trees, to show the growing challenge of deforestation.
That was a message echoed by the Di Caprio Foundation, which posted an image of the Amazon rainforest in Brazil accompanied by a tweet that read, "The Rondonia region of Brazil originally had over 200,000 km2 of rainforest but has become one of the most deforested places in the Amazon. Side by side images shows C. 2006 to 2018."

International NGO Greenpeace focused instead on the arctic, Tweeting, "Arctic 100 years ago vs Today. This is the truth about the #10YearChallenge. RT if you agree. #climatechange".

The message was posted alongside images from Christian Åslund and The Norwegian Polar Institute, which depict the Arctic and show how polar icecaps have melted with time.
