Rise in public sector pensioner numbers registered in November

Muscat: The number of pensioners registered with public sector pension funds in the Sultanate at the end of November 2018 stood at 201,244 comprising a rise by 0.1 per cent compared to October 2018.
According to the latest data released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI), the total number of pensioners in September 2018 included 118,620 males and 82,624 females.
According to categories of wages subject to contribution, the highest number of pensioners are in the wage category from OMR1,000 to less than OMR2,000, reaching 59,930 pensioners. This is followed by the category from OMR700 to less than OMR800, reaching 40,515.
Similarly, in the category of wages, the number of pensioners with wages from OMR800 to less than 900 is 29,454.
The number of pensioners with wages from OMR325 and less than OMR400 is 23,640.
There are 18,116 pensioners with salary ranging from OMR500 to less than OMR600, and 18,033 pensioners with salary from OMR600 to less than OMR700.
The lowest number of pensioners were in the wage category from OMR2,000 and above, reaching 3,447.
Among governorates, Muscat topped the list with 38,324 pensioners, followed by Al-Batinah North with 34,334 pensioners. A’Dakhliyah, Dhofar and A’Sharqiyah South followed this with 25,674, 21,021, and 16,755, respectively.
Al Wusta had the lowest number of pensioners, with the number reaching 1,783.
