Cricket: Indian School Wadi Kabir crowned U-16 champions

MUSCAT: Indian School Wadi Kabir (ISWK) was crowned Junior League Under-16 champion after handing Sri Lankan School Muscat (SLSM) a 11-run drubbing in the final at Muscat Municipality ground 1 in Amerat on Saturday.
Yash Toprani’s 59-ball 71 was the highlight of ISWK’s score of 191 for in 30 overs followed by useful contributions from Swastic Sundara (40) and Sai Surya (28 not out). Movindu Rovith picked up two wickets.
SLSM failed to rise to the occasion, folding up for a meagre 77 in the 21st over, Rovith topscoring with 32. Zayed Ali Khan and Siddh Mehta bowled exceptionally well to claim three wickets each.
Brief scores: ISWK 191 for 5 in 30 overs (Yash Toprani 71 – 6x4, 1x6, Swastic Sundara 40 – 5x4, Sai Surya 28 not out – 2x4. Movindu Rovith 2-30) thrashed SLSM 77 all out in 20.4 overs (Movindu Rovith 32 – 3x4. Zayed Ali Khan 3-11, Siddh Mehta 3-15) by 114 runs.
Sinha beats PSD in thriller
Sinha had a good day in the park, scoring a thrilling 2-wicket win over Platinum Services Diamond (PSD) in an A Division clash at Oman Cricket grassy ground 2 on Saturday.
PSD was dismissed for 224 in the 46th over, Manjit Singh being its topscorer with 50 off 71. Vineet Pal (34) and Azmat Ullah (32) were the other notable scorers. Dileepa Srilal and Ravindu Meeramuni claimed three wickets each while Gayash Dias grabbed two.
Despite losing wickets at regular intervals, Sinha fought on to secure a well-deserved victory in the 49th over, scoring 225 for 8 thanks to superb batting by Nalaka Pathum (55), Dhamikka Premadasa (28) and Chaminda Lakmal (27). Chadith Lakmal took three wickets for PSD while Ibn Eameen got two.

Oasis Water win
A match-winning 136-run stand between openers Akshat (67) and Javed Iqbal (62) powered Oasis Water to an exciting 7-wicket win against RAHRC in an E Division game at Muscat Municipality ground 3 on Friday.
Chasing RAHRC’s huge 191 for 6, Oasis Water overhauled the total with 9 balls yet to be bowled and three wickets in hand. Brilliant batting by openers was instrumental in putting their team in the driver’s seat.
Earlier, Ajithkumar Krishna (38) and Anzil Nazmudeen (35) were RAHRC’s main scorers. Anoop Parap picked up three vital wickets for Oasis Water.

Sajeev spurs Maxitech
Sajeev Sathyanandan’s superb all-round show steered Maxitech International to a 32-run victory against OCT Al Nahdha in a low-scoring F Division game at Muscat Municipality ground 4.
Opting to bat first, Maxitech could score only 124 before being dismissed in the 18th over. Sajeev topscored with a whirlwind 36 off 18 balls including 4 big sixes. Mohammed Haneef and Nadil Al Balushi claimed three wickets each.
Reduced to 48 for 5 in 12 overs, Maxitech managed to score only 92 before its quota of 20 overs was exhausted. Its topscorer Mohammed Anwar remained unbeaten on 17. Sajeev was the pick of the bowlers, taking 3 for 14 while Mohan Babu claimed 2 for 18.
