Muscat: An expat worker has been left in critical condition after a hole at a construction site caved in on him, the Public Authority for Civil Defence and Ambulance (PACDA) said.
PACDA's Operations Centre received a report about the incident at the construction of a house in the area of Al Khoud in Wilayat Seeb.
Search and rescue teams at the Civil Defense and Ambulance Department in Muscat were sent to the location, according to PACDA.
"An Asian national was trapped and buried by the earth that collapsed as a result of him digging," a PACDA statement read.
The team carried out a rapid action plan using equipment and tools for such incidents.
"The team members were able to reach and retrieve him, and handed him over to the ambulance team, who began to provide him with emergency medical care. He was then transferred to the hospital in critical condition."
The authority has called on all building owners to take care during the construction process and to comply with the safety procedures and requirements issued by them.
