Police refute fake SMS sent to drivers in Oman

Muscat: Royal Oman Police (ROP) has refuted claims regarding text messages Omanis and residents received, related to traffic services.
In an online statement, ROP said, "We would like to acknowledge to citizens and residents that there is no validity for the text messages that they receive on their phones and related to some traffic services. This does not relate to the official accounts of the police."
The police added, "Vehicle plates in the Sultanate have only five digit numbers."
The message reads, "Dear driver, your driving license is expired, please visit us via this link for renewal."
