Cricket: Jotun registers emphatic win against Taurus XI

MUSCAT: Gopakumar Gopal and Sajith Pillai were instrumental in Jotun scoring an emphatic victory against Taurus XI in a G Division game at OAC 3 ground in Seeb.
Batting first, Taurus scored 164 for 8 in 20 overs, Ali Akbar topscoring with 40 off 22 while Ayaz Ahmed contributed 23 off 14. Gopakumar was the pick of the bowlers, claiming 3 for 15 while Ratheesh Nair took 2 for 30.
Jotun did not face much trouble chasing down the total, achieving victory in 18.4 overs and scoring 165 for 5. Sajith Pillai was the main scorer with a stroke-filled 49 off only 23 balls. Rahul Ramachandran and Peer Mohammed were the other notable scorers with 30 and 26 runs respectively. Ali Akbar bowled well too, taking 3 for 23 while Ali Salamat bagged two wickets.

Al Siraj win
Al Siraj Holdings scored a crushing 8-wicket win over Sam Royals in an H Division match at OAC 3 ground.
Royals were dismissed for 162 in 19 overs, Anudeep being its topscorer with 71 off 52 balls. Jagadeesan, Ganesha and Panner picked up two wickets each.
Al Siraj raced to the target in just the 16th over, scoring 162 for 2 thanks to Shajeev Kumar’s fluent 53 not out off 33. Ganesha and Jagadeesan contributed 33 not out and 30 runs respectively.

Babu shines for Multi-Pumps
Benny Babu’s superb all-round show powered Multi-Pumps Engineering to an exciting 12-run victory against AWS Engineering in an I Division clash at the same venue.
Multi-Pumps posted a robust 163 for 9 on the board in 20 overs, Sudhir Kumar and Benny Babu scoring useful 29 and 25 not out respectively.
AWS Engineering failed to score the required runs, folding up for 151 in the final over. Gadhia Nimesh was its main scorer with 55 while Gokul Senthil contributed 43. Babu bowled well to bag 3 for 25 while Santo Joseph took 2 for 13.

Bhaumik Parikh 2-25, Vivek Murlidhar 2-30) beat AWS Engineering 151 all out in 19.5 overs (Gadhia Nimesh 55 – 6x4, Gokul Senthil 43 – 4x4. Benny Babu 3-25, Santo Joseph 2-13) by 12 runs.
MCCC B win
In a Junior League Under-16 match, MCCC B beat Indian School Maabela by 31 runs at OAC 3 ground.
MCCC scored 194 all out in 29.1 overs and then restricted the schoolboys to 163 for 7 in 30 overs.
