Muscat: A group of Arab expats have been arrested for stealing from an apartment after pretending to be beggars, the Royal Oman Police announced.

"The Criminal Investigation Department arrested a gang of four women and two men of Arab nationality on charges of theft from apartments in Wilayat Seeb and Bausher in Muscat," the police said.

A source in the Royal Oman Police said that the gang members "would knock on doors pretending to be beggars. If they were sure that the house was empty, they would break the door then steal the contents of the house," the police added.
