Ministry denies social media rumours about Zakat applications

Oman's Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs denies rumors about it receiving Zakat applications for the needy and social security card holders.

According to Officials, a fake message is being circulated online saying that the Zakat department started receiving requests in the ministry's office in Al Ghubra.

"The Zakat Department announces that the advertisement that has been circulated in social media is not correct. Therefore, we ask everyone to note this in order to avoid inconvenience that will be caused to people because of their concern to reach the ministry." - Ministry of Endowment and Religious Affairs

The ministry also said that it would announce the date of receiving the new Zakat applications through the website later, without having to personally visit their office.
