Group wedding celebration in Oman sees tens of thousands in attendance

Muscat: Tens of thousands of people attended a group wedding in the Wilayat of Barka on Friday evening.
Estimates show that nearly 20,000 men attended the community wedding of 160 grooms in Qarhat Al Balush in Barka.
The ninth group wedding took place on January 4, 2019. In the evening, guests were served rice and coffee, and the grooms left with plenty of gifts to start their lives.
Ali Rashed Al Amrani, whose brother and cousin were grooms at the event, told the Times of Oman, “The event was well organised, people were really happy. It brought all members of the community together to celebrate.”
According to Al Amrani, “A businessman from the village was responsible for donating all the gold and khanjars to the grooms
as gifts.”
