MUSCAT: Opener Ali Akbar’s strokeful 76 not out steered Taurus XI to a comfortable 7-wicket win over Sketch International in a G Division game at Muscat Municipality ground 4 in Amerat on Friday.
Batting first, Sketch was restricted to 139 for 6 in 20 overs. Gurmit Ram (54 off 43) and Davinder Kumar (unbeaten 30 off 20) were the main scorers. Ayaz Ahmed picked up 3 wickets for only 8 runs.
Taurus raced to the target in the 17th over, scoring 143 for 3 thanks to Akbar’s solid batting. Fara chipped in with a valuable 30. Davinder bagged 2 for 20.

Danmark win
Junaid Yousuf slammed a scintillating 120 off only 56 balls to power Danmark to an exciting 25-run victory against Aster Hospital in a high-scoring G Division clash at Muscat Municipality ground 4.
Danmark piled up 217 for 6 in its quota of 20 overs thanks to Junaid’s wonderful knock. Muzammil Ali batted well too for his 38 off 35. Noushad and Adi Raja claimed two wickets each.
Aster Hospital fought well but fell short by 25 runs, scoring 192 for 7 thanks to valuable knock by Mohammed Basheer (56 off 42) and Noushad (29 off 25). Javed Mohammed, Doresh Davender and Mayank Bharatia took two wickets each.

Abdul Aziz downs Sam Royals
Superb performance by Taqeer Shahzad and Sunil Lal saw Abdul Aziz Ali Trading & Contracting to a big 94-run win against Sam Royals in an H Division match at OAC 3 ground in Seeb.
Taqeer hit up 55 runs in his team’s total of 168 for 9 while Sunil bagged 4 wickets as Abdul Aziz dismissed Royals for a meagre 74 in the 16th over.

Nawaz sees Gitacs to victory
In another I Division match, Mohammed Nawaz was the hero of Gitacs’ 29-run win over Multi-Pumps Engineering at the same venue.
Nawaz scored 60 of 56 in Gitacs’ score of 173 for 7. Multi-Pumps gave it a good try but was restricted to144 for 8 in 20 overs. Al Bilal was the most successful bowler for Gitac with a haul of 3 wickets for 24 runs.
