Muscat, Salalah airports register more than 5.7 million passengers till July

Muscat: The number of travellers who passed through the Muscat and Salalah international airports till the end of July recorded an increase of 11.8 per cent and 19.5 per cent, respectively, compared to the figures in the same period in 2014.

There were 6,246,329 passengers travelling through the two airports during the same period, according to initial data released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).

The number of travellers passing through Muscat International Airport till July, including transfer and transit passengers, increased to 5,707,270 on 53,483 flights.

There were 47,230 international flights that passed through Muscat International Airport till July last, an increase of 14.4 per cent, as compared to figures in 2014.



Some 5,207,717 passengers travelled on these journeys, an increase of 12 per cent. There were 2,591,542 arrivals, 2,596,011 departures and 20,164 transit passengers.

Domestic flights also logged a 12.5 per cent increase to reach 6,053, while there was a 10 per cent rise in passengers at 499,533. Arrivals and departures showed a 10 per cent increase at 246,432 and 253,121, respectively.



There were 539,059 passengers on 5,637 flights that passed through Salalah airport till July last.

There were 2,106 international flights from Salalah airport, an increase of 24.5 per cent in July, as compared to figures in 2014. Some 178,855 passengers travelled on such flights, registering an increase of 35.7 per cent. Arrivals numbered 82,987, while departures numbered 95,868 persons, an increase of 33.8 per cent and 37.4 per cent, respectively

There were 3,531 domestic flights through Salalah Airport, registering a 16.8 per cent increase, against figures in July 2014. Some 360,204 passengers travelled on these flights, an increase of 12.9 per cent. Arrivals numbered 182,088, an increase of 12.7 per cent, while departures reached 178,116, registering an increase of 13 per cent.
